Submitted by admin on Mon, 02/18/2013 - 11:30
Finding great food isn't always easy. Especially in Barcelona, which is a city that's overflowing with restaurants, there is literally one on every corner! So finding places to eat with mouthwatering food is almost like searching for a needle in a haystack. Don't worry though, it's easy when you know where to look, and that's why you'll find ten suggestions here on where to find the most tasty food experiences in Barcelona, for all tastes and budgets.
-
Saüc: When do you know you're getting quality food? When it comes from a Michelin starred restaurant! Before you run away whilst tightly gripping your wallet, don't worry. Whilst it's not cheaper than your average restaurant in Barcelona, you can have a 3 course meal, plus a dessert and a coffee here for only €37 if you go during weekdays for the lunchtime menu. From the interesting amuse-bouches, to juicy veals, and delightfully paletable afters, you really can't go wrong with this place.

ABaC: This restaurant without a doubt offers the best food on this list. It's a restaurant with two Michelin stars, and though it is very expensive -the menu costs €125 and the average dish cost a la carte is about €50- it is most definitely home to the best food in the city, therefore it deserves a mention here. The food is so creative, that it really becomes a unique experience rather than just a place to simply eat food. Okay, enough with the expensive food, we promise that the rest of the list will be affordable!
-
Ken: Any place that has been cited as the favourite for Carles Puyol, star of FC Barcelona, is definitely good enough for everyone else. Don't threat, it's celebrity quality for great value. Keeping to our promise of affordable food, you can eat here for as little as €13 with the midday week lunch menu. It's very traditional Japanese food, teppenyaki to be exact, which is where the chefs use an iron griddle to cook food. It's not a big restaurant, so you should definitely reserve if you don't want to end up disappointed.
-
En Ville: Amazing food for less than €15? Look no further than En Ville. It's a favourite among the team here at OK Apartment, and we have been here numerous times because not only is the food great it's cheap too. There is a selection of irresistible food on offer from their midday menu which ranges from €10 - €20 in total. The 3 course menu starts from €9.90, but there are some "premium dishes" with which you add €1.90 - €3.90 to the total price. This restaurant usually gets full, so either get there a little early before the lunch/dinner rush, or book in advance.
-
Cera 23: This restaurant opened in 2011 and has really begun to gain popularity in the past year. The style is a fusion of mediterranean style food with the galician region of Spain, so fans of quality seafood will want to attend. If you're not a fan of seafood though, there are other dishes available. Currently it's the second highest rated restaurant in Barcelona and for only €8.90, you would be crazy not to try it out.
-
Café Adonis: We've mentioned this restaurant before as one of the best restaurants in Barcelona for value (The best Barcelona restaurant for less than 30 Euros. There is some great food on offer and the style is quite varied, from hamburgers to tapas.
-
Ziryab: Middle-eastern food meets Spanish cuisine, sounds a bit strange, no? Actually, not so; the only strange thing about it is how good it is. Spanish culture is strongly influenced by Arabian culture as it formed a large part of the history, so it is in fact not that surprising that it works so well. It's definitely the perfect restaurant in Barcelona for groups.
-
PerBacco: Moving from Arabian to Italian style food. PerBacco is a great place to grab a pizza or a pasta for a decent price. While the prices are average for Barcelona, the food is definitely way above standard, and the staff of this family-run restaurant will surely make you feel welcome. In fact, the staff care so much about client satisfaction that they reply to every single review made about them on tripadvisor, how many other restaurants do you know that do that?
-
Llamber Barcelona: Lets face it, when most tourists come to Spain, they're looking to have at least one fantastic tapas experience. Not only does this restaurant offer just that, but it's also located in the ever-trendy Born district of Barcelona. It's a very creative style of tapas that actually makes more traditional styles of tapas look quite boring. Add this one to your list!
-
Etapes: This particular restaurant offers some lovely dishes, like "Cured cheese salad with an apricot vinaigrette and baked apple", "Duck confit with sautéed baked wheat" and the mysterious dessert which is created on the whim of the pastry chef.
-
Pa i Trago: OK. We said ten, but consider this a bonus. It's so nice we just had to mention it. You're in Barcelona, so why not try Catalan cuisine? This restaurant has been going since 1965 and prides itself in providing its customers with authentic tastes of the region, from homemade croquettes, to Calçots (when they're in season). If you're adventurous, then you should taste the snails, however one thing is for sure, for the most authentic Catalan cuisine in Barcelona, you'll find it as Pa i Trago.
